AI Policy – Hamster Soup Forever

This policy explains how Hamster Soup uses artificial intelligence – both how I build the app and how AI works for you inside the app.

1. AI tools in development

I use AI-powered tools while creating the app—things like brainstorming, drafting, refactoring, reviewing code, and translations. That work happens on my side during development.

2. AI features inside the app (for you)

The AI features you use in Hamster Soup are powered by Apple Intelligence and Apple’s Foundation Models. They run entirely on your iPhone or iPad. Your content is processed and cached locally using low-power Apple Silicon; it is not sent to Mutant Soup’s servers or to a third-party cloud service.

That’s intentional: I care about privacy, battery life, and a fun experience without routing your feeds through someone else’s data center.

3. How the app works today—and where I’m headed

This is how the app works today. In 2024 the app used cloud AI; in 2025 it used a hybrid mix of local and cloud; and in 2026 the app now only uses local AI. Going forward, I plan to keep investing in low-power, on-device AI that stays on your phone or tablet as Apple’s APIs evolve.

4. Device and OS requirements

On-device AI in the app is available only on devices that support Apple Intelligence and Foundation Models, and only on iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or later. If your device or OS doesn’t meet those requirements, AI-powered features won’t be available until you use supported hardware and software.
